FIRST

FIRST is a multi-national program centering about robots, whether they are made out of legos or metal. Founded by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers with the goal of spreading the knowledge of science and engineering to the youth. FIRST is split into four different programs. Jr.FLL, FLL, FTC, and FRC. Each having their very own unique competition every year.

Dean Kamen

DEAN KAMEN Dean Kamen is an inventor, entrepreneur, and leader in pushing the knowledge of science and technology to the youth of today and tommorow. He is one of the two founders of the very large and expanding FIRST program. The meaning of FIRST is For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, which comes from Dean Kamen's passion for spreading Science and Technology to future engineers.

WOODIE FLOWERS

WOODIE FLOWERS is the second founder of FIRST. He started working on the FIRST program with Dean Kamen back in 1990. Something he brought to the table is one of the VALUES of FIRST, gracious professionalism. In 1996 the Woodie Flowers award was created. Every year Flowers has been the National Advisor of FIRST.
